DOT-13 touts latest international recognition for Siargao

BUTUAN CITY – Siargao Island in Surigao del Norte has once again been recognized as one of Asia's top destinations by a prominent international lifestyle magazine.

Earlier this month, Condé Nast Traveler ranked Siargao 10th in its "Top Islands: Readers' Choice Awards 2024" in the Asia category. The survey, conducted among the magazine’s global readers, also included
other Philippine destinations: Boracay, Palawan, Cebu, and the Visayan Islands.

"This recognition underscores our continuous efforts to enhance the visitor experience while preserving the island’s natural and cultural heritage," said Department of Tourism (DOT) Caraga Director Ivonnie Dumadag in a statement Wednesday.

Dumadag noted that Siargao has earned the same accolade from Condé Nast Traveler for two consecutive years, further solidifying its global appeal.

Published on Oct. 1, the survey results placed Boracay third with 91.94% of the votes, Palawan sixth with 90.68%, Cebu and the Visayan Islands eighth with 90.29%, and Siargao tenth with 89.2%.

Siargao first gained international attention in 2018 when it was named Asia’s top destination by the same publication, cementing its status as a must-visit island in the Philippines. (PNA)
