CABANATUAN CITY, Nueva Ecija – The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) has released some PHP19 million for the cash-for-work program for persons with disabilities (PWDs) in this province.
The move is under the DSWD's Kapit-Bisig Laban sa Kahirapan – Comprehensive and Integrated Delivery of Social Services (KALAHI-CIDSS) program.
A total of 4,500 PWDs in the province will benefit from the undertaking designed to provide locals temporary work for 10 days in their community.
Ariel Sta. Ana, chief of the Provincial Disability Affairs Office-Nueva Ecija, said on Monday qualified beneficiaries are those included in the Listahan database, indigent or poor PWDs and those PWDs that can no longer work.
If the PWD cannot do the work, Sta. Ana said a family member will represent him or her to be a beneficiary of the program.
Each of the beneficiaries, he said, will get a PHP450 daily wage for the duration of the period identified for the project.
“Prayoridad din ng programa ang mga PWD na hindi pa napabibilang sa nakatanggap na ng anumang programa o ayuda ng DSWD (The priority of the DSWD program are those PWDs who have not yet received assistance or avail of any program from the DSWD),” he said in a local news report. (PNA)
