MANILA – The Government Service Insurance System (GSIS) posted a total income of PHP344.47 billion in 2025 as its total assets climbed to PHP1.96 trillion, nearing the PHP2 trillion mark.
In a news release on Tuesday, the state pension fund said its assets grew by 8.2 percent from the previous year, reflecting a sustained expansion of its financial base.
Total income rose 6.4 percent from 2024 levels, driven by insurance revenues and investment returns.
Social insurance income accounted for PHP212.17 billion of total revenues, while general insurance generated PHP11.39 billion in total premium income — an increase of PHP1.11 billion, or 10.8 percent year on year, attributed to higher new and renewal policy issuances.
Investment income from financial assets reached PHP76.55 billion, reinforcing the fund’s ability to meet long-term pension obligations. Net income from operations stood at PHP137.74 billion.
GSIS President and General Manager Jose Arnulfo Veloso credited the strong performance to prudent stewardship of members’ contributions.
“Every peso in this fund belongs to a government worker who expects it to be there when they retire or when their family needs it,” Veloso said.
“In 2025, we paid out more in benefits than the year before, while growing our assets by over PHP148 billion."
The pension fund earlier reported releasing PHP194 billion in claims and benefits during the year, underscoring its continued support to members and pensioners while maintaining asset growth. (PNA)
