Nearly 692K Dabawenyos fully protected vs. Covid-19

DAVAO CITY – A total of 691,666 Dabawenyos are fully protected against the coronavirus, while 821,395 have received their first dose of the life-saving shot.

The Davao City Vaccination Cluster reported on Sunday that as of October 16, essential workers under the A4 group have the biggest number of vaccinated persons at 405,670 receiving the first dose, with 356,538 of them fully protected against the disease.

They are followed by persons with comorbodities or the A3 group, with 174,844 individuals receiving the first dose and 149,476 getting the second dose.

About 85,439 of the poor population or the A5 category got their first dose, with 44,461 of them completing second doses.

A total of 93,798 senior citizens got their first dose, while 86,342 are fully vaccinated.

About 61,644 healthcare workers, the A1 priority group who are among the first to receive the coronavirus vaccine in March, received their first doses and 54,849 of them are fully vaccinated.

The city government is targeting to vaccinate 70 percent of its total population or 1.2 million to achieve population protection.

Health authorities and city officials urge local residents to register and get vaccinated, saying vaccination is an effective way to curb the spread of the disease.

To ramp up the vaccination drive, more vaccination sites, including mobile ones and the so-called Bakuna Nights, have been established. (PNA)
