MANILA – The Office of Civil Defense (OCD) announced that the first Online National Simultaneous Earthquake Drill (NSED) for this year will be held on March 10.
"Sa ating mga kababayan, sabay-sabay tayo muling mag-Duck, Cover, and Hold sa ika-10 ng Marso, alas-nuwebe nang umaga! (To our fellow Filipinos, we will be again our Duck, Cover, and Hold (earthquake drills) this coming March 10, 9 a.m.)," the OCD said in a Facebook post Monday night.
It added that the online NSED programs will start at 8 a.m.
"Tumutok sa Civil Defense PH page para sa mga anunsyo kaugnay ng ating First Quarter Online NSED Drill ngayong 2022! (Please monitor Civil Defense PH (The official OCD Facebook account) for an announcement concerning our First Quarter Online NSED Drill this 2022)," the OCD added.
In-person earthquake drills are still suspended due to the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) pandemic.
The NSED for the first and second quarters of 2021 was held on March 11 and June 10, respectively.
The third quarter national earthquake drill for 2021 was conducted on September 16 while the fourth quarter drill was held on November 11.
The event can be watched via live streaming on the Civil Defense PH and National Disaster Risk Reduction Management Council Facebook pages where viewers can do the "duck, cover, and hold" gesture in their houses and offices once the ceremonial alarm sounds. (PNA)
